What you are buying:
Crackle glaze is a product that works between two coats of emulsion to produce the appearance of aged cracked paint.
With this product it is very easy to do and looks brilliant on items such as: furniture, doors, picture frames, daido rails, storage boxes, plant pots and ornaments etc.
The cracked samples in the photograph are for illustration only and any colour combination can be used.
How to use:
You will need:
Two contrasting colours of MATT emulsion paints. (You achieve better cracks with matt).
A standard paint brush.
Crackle glaze.
How to create a cracked finish:
Decide the colour of your cracks, this will be the first coat of emulsion.
Paint the project with the first coat of emulsion and allow to dry.
Paint on the Crackle Glaze and allow to dry overnight.
Paint on the second (contrasting) coat of emulsion using not more than 1 or 2 brush strokes only. Do not over-brush the second coat of emulsion.
The cracks will appear as the second coat of emulsion dries.
Do not worry about the second coat of emulsion looking uneven when you apply it, the Crackle Glaze will sort it out as the second coat of emulsion dries.
Helpful hints:
If you have not used this product before have a practice on some scrap paper prior to starting your actual piece.
Do not over brush the second coat of emulsion, use 1 or 2 brush strokes at the most.
Do not worry if the second coat of emulsion is uneven the Crackle Glaze will sort it out.
If required protect your project with a SOLVENT based Polyurethane Varnish.
